Searching with Advanced Find

Advanced Find works similar to Quick Find except that you can be more specific about the words that you want to search for and you can search in document content as well as in vault properties.

To search with Advanced Find:

Select the properties that you want to search as described in Configuring the Quick Find options.
Click the drop-down toolbutton next to Quick Find in the toolbar and select Advanced Find. The Advanced Find dialog appears.
Enter options using the descriptions in the following table.

Advanced Find options
Specifying this option...	Will find...
all these words	Documents with a property that contains all of the words that you type, but not necessarily together or in the same order.
this exact wording or phrase	Documents with a property that contains the words that you type, exactly as you type them.
one or more of these words	Documents with a property that contains any of the words that you type.
these words excluded	Documents without a property that contains the words that you type.
words in document content	Documents with file content that contains the words that you type.

To limit the number of documents that are shown in the results page, edit the number shown in Maximum returned or use the arrow buttons.
Click Find to execute the search. The results appear in the Search page in the document list pane.
